Know your risks before they become your reality
1 in 20 people carry an inherited health risk.
Many find out after it's too late for prevention. Finding an inherited risk isn’t a diagnosis. It’s early information that gives you time to act, adjust screening, and reduce your long-term risk.
Silent risks can
-
Be inherited, even without a known family history
-
Remain invisible in standard blood tests and MRIs
-
Appear without warning or symptoms
How results guide action
-
When screening starts and how often you’re monitored
-
Medication and preventive care choices
-
How you and your GP manage risk across your lifetime
Medical-grade testing, focused on what matters
Unlike other consumer DNA tests, Eugene does not report on traits or non-actionable findings. Every condition we screen for has established clinical relevance and clear next steps.
Benefits
-
Tested in accredited medical laboratories (CLIA, CAP), meeting rigorous clinical and quality standards.
-
We only test for genetic conditions that are medically important and actionable by clinicians.
-
Your data is protected using SOC 2 Type I & II security standards.

Health Impact Categories
These charts show the distribution of genes across health impact categories in our cancer, cardiac, and comprehensive preventative panels. The chart widths are proportional to each panel’s total genes. Each gene is grouped by its most clinically relevant preventative health impact.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Eugene Sequence
Is this a new test? What happens to my data?
Is this a new test? What happens to my data?
Eugene Sequence isn’t a new test, it’s a way of unlocking more actionable insights from the same high-quality DNA sequence the laboratory created when you first tested with us. Instead of asking you to provide a new sample, we can ask the laboratory, who securely stores your de-identified DNA sequence, to reanalyse it using a different set of genes.
This means you can benefit from new health insights without extra hassle.
How is my genetic data kept secure?
How is my genetic data kept secure?
Your genetic data is stored using enterprise-grade security measures including encryption, access controls, and regular security audits. Fulgent Genetics Inc. stores genetic sequence data securely, usually in de-identified form. Data is kept only as long as necessary for service delivery, legal compliance, or business needs, with options for patients to request deletion. You remain in control of your data and can request deletion at any time. In line with legal and regulatory requirements, some information may need to be retained for a period (for example, in system backups or where already used in research). Please be reassured that Eugene never shares your genetic information with third parties without your explicit consent.

What makes the Preventive Health report different?
What makes the Preventive Health report different?
Your original carrier screening test focused on understanding the chance of passing on genetic conditions to children. The focus was not to identify genetic variants that could impact your own long term health. The Preventive Health report is different: it looks at 180+ genes linked to inherited risks for cancers and heart conditions that could affect you directly. You’ll receive personalised insights and clear, evidence-based recommendations that you can take to your healthcare provider to guide proactive care.
What makes this test similar to the carrier screening test is that, even if we do find you are a carrier of a gene change it does not mean you have the condition.
How much does the alumni pricing save me?
How much does the alumni pricing save me?
Eugene alumni receive nearly 50% off the retail price for this preventive health test. This significant discount reflects our commitment to providing ongoing value to our existing customers and making genetic insights more accessible over time.
Can I opt out of future updates?
Can I opt out of future updates?
Absolutely. You have complete control over whether you receive new reports and updates. You are the only one who can request reanalysis and we will not be able to process the new reports without your consent. Your participation in Eugene Sequence is entirely voluntary.
Will this affect my insurance?
Will this affect my insurance?
For most people, the answer is no — but it depends on the type of insurance.
Private health insuranceis fully protected. Insurers cannot deny you cover or increase your premiums based on a genetic test result.
Life insurance and income protectionare covered by an industry moratorium, which means you generally don't have to disclose your result — favourable or unfavourable — for new policies up to $500,000. Above that threshold, disclosure may be required.
The Australian government is currently finalising legislation expected to ban genetic discrimination in life insurance underwriting entirely.
Please speak to your genetic counsellor for guidance on this before you test.
